I have been seeing Milena for 6 years and have the utmost confidence in her.  She is a consummate professional and she and I have developed a great relationship.  I have had both 1/2 hour and 1 hour appointments with her, where she asks me how I am and then really listens and provides some counseling in addition to pharmacological treatment.  She is the most conscientious and accesable physician I have ever encountered.  She's not just a prescription machine.  She really cares about her patients.  I trust her with my life.  Literally.  I love this woman.  She is one in a million.  And the great thing is she IS a WOMAN and a MOTHER, so she totally gets it if that's where you are in life.  We are considering moving some distance away and I fully intend to drive back to Annapolis to see her.

I have been seeing Kathy for 5 years or so now.  I had started out seeing a counselor whose style was a bit to passive for me and switched to Kathy at the recommendation of my psychiatrist (above).  Kathy can be as gentle as might be necessary but she is not completely passive.  She will actively engage you as is needed.  She will be straight with you and is completely comfortable delving into any topic.  When you are ready, as I've heard from another client, she nudges you out of the nest and wants you to fly.  She won't just keep you on and on if you've completely recovered just to finance her boat or something.  Definitely a keeper.

I have been attending a Women's Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Group led by Jill for about 2 years now and it is a staple in my life.  Jill is a gentle and skilled therapist.  I've not had her for individual counseling, though I have considered it just because I like her so much.  She is a strong advocate of the use of meditation, which I endorse.  Although she is interested in the ideas of chakras and reike, of which, as a scientist, I am VERY skeptical, it does not affect her skill in teasing out the real issues behind behaviors and she is able to satisfy me with a scientific basis for all of her group exercises, which are powerful and effective.  She teaches many interesting and useful techniques for addressing symptoms and establishing new neuronets to change behavior.  I also have really enjoyed art therapy with her, which was new to me and quite fascinating.

Per the Maryland Psychological Association, Jill "has practiced individual, family and group psychotherapy since 1995. Jill earned her Masters Degree from Nazareth College of Rochester of New York, and has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, outpatient clinics, and community organizations. Jill is currently in private practice in Annapolis, MD, where she sees individuals and families and leads expressive CBT groups based on mindfulness practice. In addition to her private practice, Jill has worked with executive teams throughout the United States implementing organizational cultural change through belief system alignment."

I have not seen Jen for counseling, but I know her as a quiet but friendly neighbor, mother, and friend.  Our kids play together and we've helped each other out on occasion with kids, pets, etc.  I've never seen her raise her voice in regular life.   She is a good listener and is gentle and nonthreatening.  I like her.

Doctors from this practice provided prenatal care for and delivered both of my babies.  They are associated with the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, although I used primarily their Waugh Chapel and Bowie offices.  These people deliver a LOT of babies and provide screening for post-partum depression, a critical service often neglected in other practices.

I had extensive chemical erosion of my teeth due to acid reflux + bad enamel genetics + too much soda.  I needed complete reconstruction and realignment of my bite, involving 18 crowns, done all at once.  That's right folks, 2 7-hour sessions in the chair.  And I still love Kathy.  She is simply the best there is.  She's not cheap, and she is a perfectionist, but she changed my life.  My smile is up on the wall of her practice because the change was so dramatic (in a good way) and is Case 1 in her on-line smile gallery.
